Application for the 2025 Philosophy in an Inclusive Key Summer Institute (PIKSI)

Ends on

This application is for PIKSI-Rock, hosted by the Rock Ethics Institute at Penn State.

This application requires several documents: a writing sample, essays, letters of recommendation, contact information for your recommenders, and a copy of your transcripts. If you do not currently have them ready, you can start the application and save your progress. Once your documents are ready, you can upload them to the saved application. The application deadline is February 28, 2025, by 5:00 p.m. EST.

An application is not considered complete until all required documents are uploaded/submitted. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

Each applicant must submit two letters of recommendation, the contact information for the recommenders, current transcripts, and a 10–12 page writing sample. In addition, you must submit two short essays (not exceeding 300 words) in response to the following prompts:

  1. Identify a piece of philosophical writing that you read in a class or on your own that was especially meaningful to you, and explain why.
  2. What would you hope to gain from, and to contribute to, this Institute, and how do you envision philosophy fitting into your life in the future?

It is an applicant's responsibility to ensure that the letters of recommendation and their contact information are submitted by the due date. Those applications that do not have all of the required letters of support will not be reviewed. Recommenders will receive instructions on how to upload appropriate letters once the student completes this application. Requested letters of recommendation are due March 7, 2025, by 5:00 p.m. EST.

Any questions should be directed to info@piksi.org.

Again, the application deadline is February 28, 2025, by 5:00 p.m. EST.
